    .405 Winchester

Anyone loading for .405 Winchester? I have a 24" Encore barrel. Just looking for powder/bullet suggestions.

I want a .405 Winny, but don't have one yet. It is quite the caliber IMO. Have fun with it!! Believe I read that Teddy Roosevelt loved the .405......need to look into that again.

Yeah,TR took one to Africa. For all but a few African game it is adaquate.
I have shot them in the past. IIRC felt kinda like a 12ga slug. Maybe a tiny bit less.
Check the price of brass. This is strickly a handloaders chambering. ---- SAWMAN
Why just dance when you can "rock and roll".

Brass is hard to find. I think Hornady quit making it. Luckily I bought a box before they stopped. Bertram still makes brass and Jamison, I think. I got lucky and found a bunch of old Winchester online too. Factory ammo is limited too. I think only Hornady and Kynoch produce factory ammo.

They dont at this time. I contacted them about a month or so ago and suggested it because Hornady quit making it. They told me that was one they would definitely consider making in the future. I hope they do.

I got on Starline to make 218 Bee brass because Winchester stopped. They actually did start making it.
